I'm sure they have some good explanations but it appears they are gambling on Gaines and Roberson for bang for the buck?
To loose Jenks and McLeod and only LEASE Tru for one year is risky business... Their decisions will no doubt have the 2017 secondary hanging in the balance.

At this point, all personnel decisions have a risk/reward concept. The cap pressure becomes more and more powerful each year.
But consider this...
Since S&F were hired in early '12, they have found and developed the following secondary players.
Jenkins
TruJo
McLeod
McDonald
Gaines
Joyner
Roberson
Alexander
Bryant
Davis
Randolph
That's a helluva lot of NFL talent in the secondary, if you ask me. And the highest pick used was a mid 2nd on two of them. These guys find gems later in the draft and even in UDFA. It's amazing.
I know that there are others that I didn't mention that could also be in their long range plans. I see no reason to doubt that they can and will keep their CB and S pipeline full as we move forward.
I just wish I had the same certainty about their TE and WR prowess. Lol.
Good points 43... They do seem to have a knack for finding Defensive Backs and developing them rather quickly. If Gaines is truly 100% and Roberson keeps ascending as S&F seem to be thinking, the fire alarm that many want to pull may not be necessary.
No doubt the TE/WR's skill positions has been a horrible weakness of the S&F reign.... So was the OLINE but they appear to have stopped the bleeding there in a quick turnaround time..... As you stated... Time will Tell..
