I think the Rams' plan is to stay on LA time for the entire trip.
See the spreadsheets below - it will make it easier to follow along.
Melbourne is 17 hours ahead of LA, so 2pm on Wed, Sept 9 in LA is 7am on Thu., Sept 10 in Melbourne as indicated in the first timeslot for each city.
The game is on Friday, Sept 11 at 10:35am AEST. I have highlighted the timeslot for kickoff in both cities. And the flight is 16 hours
Since I'm proposing that the team stay on LA time for the entire trip I'm going to present an itinerary using only LA times. You can use the spreadsheet to reference the corresponding times in Melbourne, but it really doesn't matter what time it is in Melbourne.
If the Rams did this (stayed on LA time for the entire trip) they could avoid any time adjustment traveling to Melbourne and back
- Leave LA at 3pm on Wed, Sept 9
- Have dinner on the plane at whatever time they would have had dinner in LA. Maybe 6pm PDT?
- Lights out on the plane at whatever time they would have done lights out in LA. 11pm PDT?
- Land in Melbourne at 7am PDT
- Proceed with whatever meeting, walkthroughs, etc. that they would have if they were playing a 5:35pm PDT game in LA
- Kickoff at 5:35pm PDT
- Game over around 8:45 PDT
- Dinner in the locker room?
- On the plane by 11pm PDT
- Lights out at midnight PDT or 1am PDT
- Lights back on at 8am PDT or 9am PDT on Friday, Sept 11
- Plane lands in LA at 3pm PDT on Fri, Sept 11
