Do you have someone who is ambitious and chomping at the bit to make a name for themselves. Since this is football I don't reall care about the quality of his prose. He can wax poetic about birds and butterflies and follow it up with small point bullet sentences designed for this attention deficit and clickbait era we live in, provided all the information is there. What matters is that he's taken the time and effort to put everything in there.
So enjoyable article even if I'd love to be his editor and have him tail back some of that nonsense in the intro. Great writing in sports knows its audience, after all. And it will grab that audience and hold them in the opener. The good thing with this guy is he is certainly ambitious and will improve, not only in his ability to write to his audience but also in translating understanding of the game to the fans who aren't all ate up about the game like we are.
