Here's an article that tracked draftees from 2006 thru 2021. [www.pff.com] The data says that the Day 1 hit rate for QBs is 63.3% while the Day 1 hit rate for WRs is 56.9%. So there's the risk for each pick.

And what's the possible reward? Simpson might be a franchise QB, Lemon might be a WR1.

Statistically Simpson is less risk with a higher reward (the assumption being that a franchise QB is more valuable to an NFL tram than a WR1).

Not saying I would've taken Lemon or not at 13. I would've liked to trade down but I don't think that was an option due to it takes 2 to trade and I am not sure there were any good offers.

Simpson does have a "higher reward" but I think the risk factor might be higher than it is with Lemon.

I would think Lemon should be more "NFL ready" due to having more playing time in college than Simpson did.

Agree there is risk with every position in the Draft. Including the First overall pick. lol
