Conclusion: the Rams are in a better position to win the SB in this all in year because they drafted Simpson than they would have been if they drafted anyone else.
Yeah, I gotta disagree with that AlbaNY. Simpson might not even be QB2 unless he beats out Bennett and even if he does become QB2, he would still be a "backup" just like most any other player they would've drafted at 13.
So, if no matter who we drafted at 13, they all were going to be backups anyway. The question for me then becomes at what position do we need a "backup" the most that COULD help this year if needed?
QB? WR? OL? LB?
For me, QB would take the longest to develop enough to play at a high level year 1. Simpson has no shot at all being as green as he is. I understand they drafted him hoping we got our future QB "after" Stafford retires and if true, that doesn't help "now" and IMO, Simpson's draft has zero impact on "in a better position to win the SB in this all in year."
Imo, WR is the most worrisome if someone goes down or misses time and that might've been the easiest position to draft with that in mind. Not sure an OL, QB or LB would be able to step right in and play year 1. Then again, maybe a WR couldn't step right in either.
I think you and I have been back and forth on this. Each with a slightly different view but still in agreement to an extent on many things. Nobody is right or wrong...yet. lol It will be fun watching and discussing more as the season goes on!
Always a pleasure talking with you!

#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
