That would explain why McVay looked so pissed? I wouldn't be surprised if that was what happened at all.

I agree 100% the Rams liked Simpson or else they wouldn't have picked him so no argument there. I am just not sure he was the pick from the get go.

The truth is that a lot of those "smart" people DO have access to the info, maybe not the same info but it's their job to study the players and project where they will go.

Having said that, yes, even those "smart" people can be wrong but so can McVay as well. After all, didn't McVay and staff "HAVE ACCESS TO ALL THE INFORMATION" regarding Tutu and Logan Bruss as well??? Just to name a few. I am sure you remember those guys, right? Did "having more info than anyone else" help in those picks?

In fact, the Rams had so much info on Bruss that they decided to jump into a pool out of happiness and confidence they chose the right dude even though they passed on a HOF center that went to the Chiefs instead.

So, even "having info that others do not" does not mean they are correct in their evaluations and mistakes are made. I am sure that's not too hard to understand either, right? lol

There are no sure things in the Draft. I am sure you know that too, and that's why the picking Ty at 13 is a legit question and not a "dumb" one, imo.

I guess we just see things a little differently but we BOTH want the same thing...for Ty to be a very good QB for the Rams for a very long time.

I can only go by what Les Snead stated in that they had opportunities to trade back, but the better options disappeared after picks 11 & 12. I took that as opportunities to move back and feel certain they could still get Simpson who according to Eric Weddle the Rams planned to take all along.

Now I have my doubts that McVay would be upset about not moving back to add more picks to select players for an already loaded roster where rookies are not very likely to make much of an impact anyway.

Makes more sense to me that he could have been concerned with something at home, about Stafford's reaction, or even miffed about the past crap with Diania Russini regaining some media focus.

BTW, smart people with NFL teams have access to all the information. Not just so-called smart people on the outside with opinions. Some information is classified for privacy/legal purposes. And obviously having access to more information isn't the cure all for success. lol. However, I value the opinion of the former FAR MORE than the latter. Especially, when the latter couches their opinions with either bad information or views with what appears to show very little consideration of the bigger picture.

We even see it every single year with media draftniks who follow the draft far closer than the causal fan or even media pundits who still are quick to offer opinions. They'll say that this team should have filled this blank position completely unaware of what is and/or how a team views players already on the roster. It's laughable.

And they take limited information to come up with draft board rankings of players as if there are 32 teams running the exact same ecosystem / scheme. Then post-draft they tell us who was taken too high or was a steal as if one size fits all as if they actually had access to the 32 different draft boards/opinions that matter. Yet if you look at their mock drafts most usually wind up 5-8 correct selections. But they know??? No. And the folks that don't even do that much know even less.
