Not sure it's an easy answer either or common sense for that matter, but it's certainly not a "dumb" question. There were many legit reasons for people to question why he was picked at 13.

You might not like the question or agree with it but to say it's "dumb" is a little disrespectful imo.

There were a LOT of smart people who get paid to analyze these types of things and know what they are talking about who also questioned it.

I hope he turns out to be a HOF'er and I hope he wins us a couple rings. We'll see what happens. By the time the kid actually plays, most people will have forgotten about when he was picked. lol

It's fine that some have reasons to question the selection. But, the question was why was he taken so high? And the answer is common sense. The team with the 13th selection wanted him and didn't want to risk losing him.

And the fact remains that a LOT of smart people and others SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO ALL THE INFORMATION of which NFL teams have access. Long time draft guru Mel Kiper has even admitted to this in the past so I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand.

Do you think the Rams were wanting to trade out of the pick but the trade fell though, maybe with Cleveland for Garrett and were forced to make a pick instead?

That would explain why McVay looked so pissed? I wouldn't be surprised if that was what happened at all.

I agree 100% the Rams liked Simpson or else they wouldn't have picked him so no argument there. I am just not sure he was the pick from the get go.

The truth is that a lot of those "smart" people DO have access to the info, maybe not the same info but it's their job to study the players and project where they will go.

Having said that, yes, even those "smart" people can be wrong but so can McVay as well. After all, didn't McVay and staff "HAVE ACCESS TO ALL THE INFORMATION" regarding Tutu and Logan Bruss as well??? Just to name a few. I am sure you remember those guys, right? Did "having more info than anyone else" help in those picks?

In fact, the Rams had so much info on Bruss that they decided to jump into a pool out of happiness and confidence they chose the right dude even though they passed on a HOF center that went to the Chiefs instead.

So, even "having info that others do not" does not mean they are correct in their evaluations and mistakes are made. I am sure that's not too hard to understand either, right? lol

There are no sure things in the Draft. I am sure you know that too, and that's why the picking Ty at 13 is a legit question and not a "dumb" one, imo.

It was fun conversing with you brother. Nobody is right or wrong...yet. lol

I guess we just see things a little differently but we BOTH want the same thing...for Ty to be a very good QB for the Rams for a very long time.

See you in another thread! Happy 4th! beer cheer smiley

#HelmetHornsMatter

“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.

“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
