I still think the pick was weird.
McVay wears his emotions on his sleeve and while we can all make assumptions, I'm not convinced Simpson was the original plan.
My issue with Simpson, there's no elite traits.
My gut right now tells me he is a career backup, with a ceiling of being a Kirk Cousin's type QB.
I hope he proves me wrong.
Same here and we're not alone either. In fact, I i'm not even sure we are in the minority. Of course we've seen posts from people who seem to be offended that we disagree or question the pick. lol
A ton of people, including some very smart ex players and media who also questioned the pick at the time. I don't think many question his "potential" but they do question where he was picked and whether or not it was a smart move to do during an all in year.
For me, only 15 starts at the college level is concerning. Of course that doesn't mean he won't be good but it's still a legit concern/question. I like the kid's moxy and attitude and am intrigued by his "potential" and I hope he does well for us...but not for at least another 5 years because I want Stafford to keep playing until he can't anymore and I think that is at least 3 more years barring any kind of injury.
Fwiw, my "gut feeling" is the same as yours BG81. Looks like we will have plenty of time to discuss this going forward over the next few years. I just hope we get to see a lot of him in the preseason. He will need all the live reps he can get even if it is only preseason.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
