It was probably always going to have to be a choice between Verse and Young. And, in part, informed by what they think Stewart will become.

And maybe they had leaned toward Verse long-term. But with a Garrett deal, the math might have tipped toward offering Verse, extending Young, etc.

All things being equal, I'm sure they would prefer Verse was still in LA and they could just let one of them go in FA when the time came.
