Last year Aubrey Pleasant served as the Assistant Head Coach and Passing Game Coordinator for the Rams. In this role, he oversaw the defensive backfield, coordinated the team's passing defense, and acted as a trusted confidant to head coach Sean McVay.
Is it possible that Pleasant convinced McVay that the Rams didn't need help at corner?
And is it also possible that that's why Pleasant is no longer with the team? (Actually, he isn't coaching anywhere as I write this.)
I know there's a lot of work that must go into being an NFL Head Coach, but please, know more than your fanbase.
And counting on rehabbing a draft bust was just a little arrogant. I'm looking forward to Forbes getting better for us this season, but we put the team on his back last year at times, and it crushed him. Banking on it was a fool's errand, as was posted at the time, and I tend to hold McVay ultimately accountable for these types of decisions over staff. Add to that the guy playing opposite him is now retired, and I just can't take seriously anyone "not knowing" that our secondary was not anywhere near Championship ready.
Some futures are easy to predict.
