we beat Seattle....TWICE.
The CB signings & trade alone would have allowed more Man Covg and less zone so we coulda been a bit less predictable.
Myles G? That's just silly icing on the cake. Garrett has had no bad(structural) injuries in his career and I think can play out his contract to 2030 with little loss of ability. The Rams ripped the Browns off for just Verse and #1...the 1st rounder in 2027 will be like an early 2nd...and the 2nd and 3rd rounders in year 2 & 3 will likely be closer to early 3rd & 4th round. Garrett is an AD like clone dealt for the value of about 2 - 1st rounders. imo
It's a real testament to McSnead that they got this deal done...when NBO ONE thought it possible.
We are a true Class A franchise after @#$%& 1990s. A great time to be alive.
Nuthin is written and they still have to play the games and have few injuries to vital players...however, they have set this team up to go for the brass ring and I know that McVay will take his shot this year and take nuthin for granted.
The Rams didn't ignore it but they didn't really try to fix it either, imo. Did the Rams not know how good they were last year? Because that was the all in year... Or did they think they were so good that they didn't need anymore help? The end result is the CB basically cost them a SB. Special teams didn't help but then they never really bring in a good special teams coach... or something is majorly amiss there.
Now, I don't know what their options were... and maybe getting the Falcons pick made them reconsider things. But if they went all in on corners LAST year then things look pretty good. A normal schedule... Some tough matchups but also some less so. I mean you can't punt a season based on schedule but its going to be difficult to overcome... and I'm not talking teams as much as I am the stupid game times. That said, on paper, I see no easy games. Even the cards will likely be better... assuming better coaching.
As far as Garrett goes... you get a SB and its worth it... He could play for another 5 years or so God willing. Not really putting that past Stafford either depending on how things go.
Simpson seems like a good risk. And the Rams could have a good team for a long time. And yes... it's a lot better than the 90's and that stretch that included Fisher. And I am super thankful. Should have won the SB last year... why they didn't go all in? I think it's an interesting discussion. Who was available? Could they have moved up in the draft? Could they have gotten better corner help in free agency?... Trade?
