Verse was a strong pick, he had a fantastic rookie season and then a less than stellar sophomore outing where his continued struggles in contain were downright frustrating. Also he is too easy to nullify with a good OT. Basically he's not in Garrett's class for reason of poor contain and the fact that Garrett is an elite rusher all around, while he's only got some power threat to him.
This is a massive upgrade for the Rams defense.
And when you add this move to the secondary which has been completely rebuilt at corner... You have the makings of a defense of rare quality. Only thing we're missing is offball linebacking.
So I will say thanks to McVay and Snead, and all others involved in the Rams front office for making this move. This is what makes being a Rams fan in this era about as good as it gets in fanhood. Hope every year. A chance to win it all every year. And this year's chances of winning it all are significantly higher than last year, when we were not sure about our corner room and whether the rush could mask them.
