Serious question about length

Long arms are often mentioned when to comes to certain positions like OT. Bit how come short legs are never an issue?

I would think that shorter legs would provide a more stable base, making an RB harder to tackle.

OTOH,longer legs would allow WRs and RBs to hurdle tackles, or to cover more yardage per stride.

What do you guys think?
