Something like that last bit might very well be at play.
My local sports teams can only fit in about 30K in our stadium, but when 80 percent of them are in out Yellow and Blue its... special.
And that makes a lot of live fans enjoy certain uniforms that might not otherwise have been popular online when they were presented
