The Rams just don't do much with LBs. If they even think they do need an off ball LB, it'll be a cheap solution.
I can abosultely see the Rams use a 1st round pick on a WR and that person is given an opportunity to be WR3. The cupboard isn't bare. They have young guys that can contribute at that spot. But... NONE of those guys is likely a future WR 2 or WR1b. So, that WR pick will NOT be a slot guy; he'll be a guy built to be outside... Boston?
WR is deep this year, so I predict of their 1st 3 picks. one will be that WR guy I just decribed.

I would rather have Boston than Lemon. But's that's based upon the concept that the Rams fully intend to pay Puka what he needs to be paid and he sticks around. Otherwise, a guy like Lemon makes more sense to eat up the targets that Puka would be getting. But, I'm not picking either of them at #13. Who knows for sure but I'm seeing Boston going anywhere between 23 and 35. So maybe he's available at #29? I don't think that's the case for Lemon. some of the other bigger WR's (like Boston's size) are coming off injury, have a limited passing tree and/or are not willing blockers. I just think that so much of what the Rams do at WR will have to do with the plan they have with Puka. Personally, while he's now my favorite Ram, I wouldn't pay him. His play style is just not conduscive to him having a long career. I would hate to see that much of the salary cap on the IR. That's a good portion of paying an experienced replacement for Stafford (if any were to come available).
I don't disagree with you about off-ball LB. I'm not suggesting they need to pay someone big bucks. I'm just saying they need to improve there and if they can do that with someone who has already done it in the NFL, that's better than hoping a rookie drafee will do it.
