Who do you think they take at 13 Paul?
I think is a total crapshoot.
Snead/McVay are always looking to wheel and deal. Last year (2025) they traded out of the 1st round all together, most likely with the plan they would be trading up for a QB this year. Not only did a highly touted 2026 QB draft class turn to total crap, but Stafford well exceeded all expectations from both a performance and health standpoint. The year before (2024) they ended up staying at #19 for Jared Verse, but tried hard to trade up for TE Brock Bowers.
One pattern we see for sure is that offensive weapons are their forte and top priority. It`s what has made McVay`s teams as successful as they have been. I NEVER see them getting away from that. They know Devante Adams is going into his 14th season, saw him hurt his hammy towards the end of the season and is in his last year of his contract. Puka played in 19 of 20 games this season, which was incredible, but the way he plays the game, how long will he be able to keep that up for? The Rams are a different team without Puka. As far as the TE spot goes, the emergence of Parkinson was a great surprise, but will he show consistency and build off of that next season? Will Ferguson develop into a weapon? The TE by committee approach seems to be working well, but I think there are at least some minor question marks at that position still. Highly doubtful they look at TE in this draft unless its on day 3 for more depth.
Granted the Rams have had only 1 first round pick over the past 9 years under the Snead/McVay regime, but in those 9 years, the highest they ever drafted a CB was in round 3 (David Long - 2019). In 14 total years as GM (5 with Fisher), Snead has never taken a CB (or a safety) in the first round. He and Fisher took Janoris Jenkins and Lamarcus Joyner in rounds 2, and Trumaine Johnson in round 3. And that`s with Fisher having final say, being an ex-CB himself, and being a CB positional coach before he became a DC/HC. I really do not think Snead and McVay want to select a CB in round 1, even though it is the position of most need. With that being said, if their defensive coaches and scouts love one and he is still there at #13, I am sure they would be open minded enough to make the selection. The other option is they use that #13 pick to trade for an established NFL CB. Kroenke wants to win now with Stafford on borrowed time and the SB is in his backyard next year!
Like last year, the Rams could also look to trade out of round 1 all together in order to set up a scenario to move up to get their QB in next years draft.
IF the Rams stay at #13, my best guess is they draft a WR and probably take the local boy Makai Lemon, IF he`s still on the board. Lemon is the biggest weapon in the draft and a cannot miss pick. I`m sure that the other 31 teams in the NFL wouldn`t be too happy if Lemon ended up with the Rams. Like Puka, he is the type of player that can give you exceptional production and take over a game. If one goes down to an injury, you have that insurance and if they are both on the field together that`s just a nightmare for opposing teams defenses. If they take Lemon at #13, I see them looking strongly at CB (Terrell, Hood, Johnson, etc) at #29.
