Here's my first draft board of this offseason.
A few words about the methodology. As this is a RAMS draft board, I take into account both the overall quality of each prospect AND the fit/need for the Rams. Consequently, there are players who will likely be consensus Top 25 prospects on most general draft boards who won't make the cut on mine. I'll update this periodically (i.e. post Combine, Pro Days, etc.) and expend it to at least 50 prospects before the draft.
With that, here's my preliminary Top 25 prospects for the Rams:
1. Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana (6’5, 225)
Top QB, he makes sense at 1 to me.2. Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU (6’0, 190)
Top CB, top need. I like it.3. Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee (6’0, 193)*
Top CB coming into the season, medicals will reveal alot. 3 works for me.4. Makai Lemon, WR, USC (5’11, 195)
He probably ends up my top WR, Rams need a WR3 and a DA replacement. Love it.5. Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State (6’2, 200)*
If it wasn't for his extensive injury history, he'd be the top WR.6. Reuben Bain, DE/EDGE, Miami (6’3, 275)
He is a Verse clone, but I think he has more advanced pass rush toolbox.7. Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame (6’0, 214)
Interesting, he's a HR hitter and top RB by a mile, curious on need, but I love him.8. Arvell Reese, LB, Ohio State (6’4, 243)
Where are you playing him? inside or on the edge, or both?9. Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State (6’3, 195)
I think I like him more than Tyson, want to see him run though.10. David Bailey, EDGE, Texas Tech (6’3, 250)
Freakish explosion/speed/athleticism. excellent spot for him.11. Peter Woods, DT, Clemson (6’3, 215)
Top DT, can anchor the run and has some pass rush to him. Really like him at 11.12. Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State (6’0, 205)
Top SAF, a def need if Curl is gone. I'd have him no lower than 5. Only disagreement13. Denzel Boston, WR, Washington (6’4, 209)
His contested catch win rate is insane. He'd fit really well.14. Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson (5’11, 180)
Plays above his weight class. Aggressive and works best in zone, good spot for him,15. Kayden McDonald, DT, Ohio State (6’3, 326)
Best pure run stuffer in the draft. He's an option at 29 I think. Good spot.16. Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami (6’6, 315)
Right tackle, maybe a move inside, good depth piece. 17. Brandon Cisse, CB, South Carolina (6’0, 190)
Another candidate for 29, arrow up CB in zone. 18. KC Concepcion, WR/PR, Texas A&M (5’11, 190)
My WR5, slot guy that creates lots of separation in the intermediate areas. Good spot.19. Colton Hood, CB, Tennessee (6’0, 195)
Fighting for CB4 I think, Terrell and Cisse are better in run support, so I like his placement.20. Olavaivega Ione, OG, Penn State (6’4, 330)
He's a body mover and I like him, but depth for now?21. Spencer Fano, OT, Utah (6’6, 302)
SO is he a RT or a OG? I really like him, would be a great depth piece. Good spot.22. Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State (6’4, 243)
OLB is a 43, ILB in a 34, he'd fit wonderfully next to Landman, 22 is a nice spot.23. C.J. Allen, LB, Georgia (6’1, 235)
See
tyles, Sonny. w/o the size. 3 down do it all new age LBer. Great spot for him.24. Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia (6’7, 315)
Curve ball, I have him in round 2, gonna do some digging. I like it though. pure LT.25. Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, S, Toledo (6’2, 202)
SS that can stuff a stat sheet. I've seen very little of him, but I like the spot.* Ranking presumes medical checks are positive.
