Easy to say this or that, but when you really look into it . . .

Take the Philly game for instance (and this could be done for probably numerous plays in every game).

Dotson (who is usually the LG on kick block) was injured in the course of the game.
Limmer came in for Dotson and kept getting blown up/missed blocks (especially on a 4th and 1 that would have sealed it basically) . . .
. . . so a taped up Dotson came back in and more than held his own . . .
. . . up to the last FG attempt when Limmer came in to play LG.

On the last FG attempt, Limmer got pushed back "into Karty's lap" and we all know what happened.
A healthy Dotson plays LG on that attempt, holds Davis out, Karty makes the kick, Rams win and Ram fans are happy / everything is wonderful.

It was nothing Blackburn did - the Ram's All-pro LG wasn't in the game and his replacement could not hold out Carter and Davis.
In other words - a key Ram player was injured/out, and our players did not execute / their players did.

Do I think Blackburn should have been replaced as ST Co, - I think so, but as this one small example shows . . .

. . . it's almost never as easy as saying this guy is to "blame" or that play call, etc is to "blame"

Agreed. Wish there was an "all the above" selection.

The correct answer is ‘all of the above except schedule makers’…

12-5 would be good enough in 4 divisions...
