One of the reasons we're trying for the 1 seed is that we don't want to have to build our game plan around weather. Carolina is feeling it right now, and good for them, cute little team beating a big dog at home has to feel good. And a dumb loss at this time of year is not bad. Teams are adjusting to injuries, many have fixed poor play from earlier in the year ...
I remember for many teams that have been hot, the wheels can come off at any time. We didn't have that happen. We didn't look lost. We just got handled on the ground without a healthy Poona Ford and Matt threw a bad pass, while they converted 4th downs into big plays.
I mean, we push the limits until we get smacked, then we adjust.
The Great1) That catch by Puka is likely the best catch I've ever seen. Rivals the OBJ catch.
2) Corum's TD. The effort and quad strength is why we drafted him. Also our first explosive run in years.
3) Xavier Smith with sneaky value. I said when we brought him in, he was a mix of Tutu and Tank Dell. Better hands and routes, half step slower than Tutu and half step faster than Dell.
4) Davante on the goal line ... is he gonna hit 20 TDs?
The Good5) I thought we ran pretty well ... overall.
6) Parkinson is looking like he's settling in ...
7) No noticeable change on O line play with McClendon in.
8) Kinchens feels different. I know we won't keep Lake or Curl probably but Kinchens seems to have fortified something.
9) Whit and Mumpfield getting more snaps is a good thing. Its a long season.
The Bad10) Matt was off. Just an off day. He's been really good at picking tight windows and getting the ball out on time and accurate, and he either pushed too much or just wasn't focused. And simply, you cannot get strip sacked there.
11) The play call by the defense on the 3rd down ... how is the middle of the field open?
12) Making Jalen Coker a star makes me mad.
13) My brother (Sun Tzu) has become psychic at only correctly predicting bad things happening. He is no longer allowed to talk on the family call. But we will be testing him for pre cognitive abilities.
The Ugly14) Getting run on. Bad.
15) Forbes had his worst day of the year.
College16) Well, the season is over and my grades will not change too crazily from here til April. Some good rivalry games, and Texas A and M's luck ran out. From here Ill mostly be watching smaller schools for players I may have missed.
17) I think I like Will Lee the CB at A and M. There's been a couple others catching my eye recently as well. Has Igbinosun fixed his tech? He had 17 PIs last year and only 4 this year. How good are Prysock and Tacario Davis on Washington? Seemed like Colton Hood had a rough day.
18) They put a stat up in the Tennessee game (congrats to Vandy) that Brazell was ranked 10th best at the position out of like 700 players.
19) I think, if you're Dante Moore's agent, you tell him to come out. He'd join Simpson, Mendoza, and Maiava as the clear cut guys with best opportunities to play right away. Im leaning toward not drafting a QB (unless Matt surprise retires) at 9 so we can fully reload. Moore won't have the same shot next year because 3 slots will be taken by the above and there will be another 3 in front of him next year ... and note, the year after isn't doing him any favors either.
20) Oh, last thing, KC Concepcion. I watched him at NCst and and thought he was cool, but a little frail. He obviously heard me, because he seems pretty rocked up this year. I think he could be had with pick 32. How good do we think he is? I didn't like Luther Burden last year but this kid is reallllly fast with strong hands and anger. A 3 WR set with him, Puka and Davante next year seems like it would possibly be a top trio in the league with Whit, Mump, and XSmith as the understudies.
Thank goodness we signed Puna for 3 years and Davante for 2.
