My first Rams game

December 02, 2025 01:26AM
After a couple of days to think it over, just a few thoughts from the game. Being able to see my first Rams game live was like a dream come true. I live in Charleston, SC, so the drive is only just a bit over three hours. However, I'm a big South Carolina Gamecock fan (please don't laugh lol), yes, I know for most of our history we've been a mediocre to poor football team. It is what it is. So on Saturday I left Charleston and drove to Columbia to see the Gamecocks play our rivals, the Clemson Tigers. Well, that didn't turn out well at all, not too surprised unfortunately. Afterwards I made the drive from Columbia to Charlotte, and stayed in a hotel Saturday night. The traffic in Charlotte is real. Charleston, where I live, the traffic is bad, but still nothing like Charlotte, which of course is a much bigger city. I was just glad to get to the hotel safely.

The Panthers stadium is nice, it's the second time I've been there. The weather was cloudy, chilly at the start,,but not too much rain. As you all saw if you watched on tv, the rain started to become an issue beginning at halftime and throughout most of the rest of the game. We got off to a great start with the kickoff return, and then td, I was like, this is going to be a good day for the Rams. The turnovers were killers of course, just hard to win when you turn it over three times, and don't create any. I will say though, I was very disappointed in the defense. It's a helpless feeling as a fan to watch your team struggle to make stops time and time again. There was no secret to what the Panthers were doing, but we still couldn't do anything about it. Give them credit, but that was frustrating. The crowd became a big factor for sure. When you're playing on the road, against a team you're favored to beat, the last thing you want is to let them hang around, and unfortunately we did. You could sense the Panthers were getting more and more confident as the game went on. Still, as poorly as we played, I just knew somehow, someway, we would get it done regardless. All I wanted at that point was for us to get out of there with a win, one point, two points, I don't care, just get the W. I got my hopes up with our last drive, it was a good one up until the delay of game, and then the fumble, that of course was a dagger. Still, I was thinking just get a stop on defense, and we might have a shot. The unfortunate theme of the day continued, we couldn't get that stop, and that was the game. I was so disappointed. I wanted my first Rams game to be a win. It was just one of those days, and just like that we lost control of the top seed in the NFC. We made it tougher on ourselves now with the loss, and it may take winning our last five to gain that top seed back. I had mentioned in an earlier post how tight the NFC was, and that one slip up could prove costly, well, there was our slip up. We certainly have no margin for error. Let's see how the Rams respond!
