Gonna be short but not very sweet ‘cause I’m in no mood to sugarcoat anything this morning.
Rams were outcoached by Panthers. McVay made some very questionable play calls, especially in the rain. His team was not ready to play, either.
I'm not so sure. The Rams offense performed better than the Panthers, outside of our #9 being outplayed by theirs. I can never blame Mcvay for player mistakes. Take away the pick 6. Take away the complete lack of ball security on the last drive. That's probably the ball game.
Shula was unable to make any adjustments that I could see and lost this chess match badly to the Panthers staff. I didn’t recognize this D vs the Panthers.
Correct. The Rams' run defense couldn't keep the Panthers out of manageable down-and-distance situations. As a result, Shula made desperate decisions at all of the wrong times. I get that there's some limitation to the roster. But it seemed like we just played a very vanilla defensive scheme. The Panthers sacked Stafford on a well-timed blitz. I didn't see much of that from us.
Players were badly outplayed, too. Far, far too many Ram players turned in dramatic underperformances vs Panthers.
Yep. I still can't believe it. Nothing more to add.
Too many player mistakes to bother listing although Stafford and Forbes had particularly nightmarish performances.
If these two have even average games, we are more frustrated about a W than the L.
Three turnovers will cost you a win almost every time.
Bottom line? The above in combination is how the #1 seed team can lose to a 10 1/2 point underdog playing short handed. Sigh…
Rams may well look back at seasons end and see that this very winnable game they lost cost them HFA and all the advantages that entails.
Nothing to do now but look at the film, take away the lessons and then move on.
Color me disgusted.
