Hi KW13, I think you might be on to something, but I think that for different reasons.

1. Actually in 13 or 11 we run the same plays, it's just a TE inserting into the line to block instead of a receiver but the play is still the same. I didn't notice any new play really, just a different personnel grouping. The stretch plays are the same too.

2. I think the main reason we saw a lot of 13 is because Nacua was held out to save him for more important games.

3. Because of #2 above, McVay had to decide if it was better to play Whittington or Davis Allen (I think Adams is a given). And, then whether to play another receiver or Ferguson. Obviously in that situation McVay wanted to play Allen and Ferguson over Whittington and another receiver. Along with this line of thinking I think we'll see more & more of 12 because then we can have Adams and Nacua as the receivers and Allen and Ferguson as the TEs. I think these 4 together can be really good for both run blocking and receiving.

4. I'm sure that if our opposing teams start sliding safeties towards Adams, Stafford will see it and have an answer. If they double team Adams, somebody else will get open.

I don't think the 13 personnel is the answer.

In reality, it's more like 12.5 personnel

It’s hard to argue against the results, which are all that really matters…

Depends on what you think the question is.
