It's mostly working because McVay finally added some new plays in the playbook that opposing teams haven't seen for the last 5 years.
Yeah it's a great formation and takes advantage of our strengths and is right up McVays alley.
Using real tight ends to block and then go out for a pass instead of Puka and Whittington.
It's a great addition.
But McVay will probably milk it until it's stale.
I also think we need to be careful about throwing to Davante as our red zone solution.
To McVays credit, we've been taking shots from further back to the end zone. Not waiting till we're on the 6 yard line.
But when we are on the six yard line, they'll start drifting the safety to double cover Davante.
Yes, it's somewhat unstoppable.
But for the playoffs, and the top defenses, you're going to need a couple other plays drawn up and not just 50-50 balls to Davante every time.
Bottom line, mix it up. Keep em guessing.
