You don't have to "win" a job that's handed to you, Mevis was not brought in for practice squad or competition. He was brought in for interview and a spot-check week of practice and if he checked OK, the job is his. And for the team, that's probably good - for now. We'll see how he does under Blackburn as time goes on.
He doesn't have prolonged mind-twerk coaching from Blackburn to carry in his head while he concentrates on his kicks. He was highly rated coming out of college by Alyo and on that I think will do well here

Karty didn't get it. He was, likely due to an unintentional mix of cronyism and incometience, railroaded.
I'm curious to see where Karty goes from here and how he does. He's done as a Ram.
