That's how it should look when a top caliber team faces an inferior opponent struggling to put things together.
The Great1) Stafford. All the talk about a future QB and he honestly is throwing the football better than I've ever seen him. Maybe we don't need to be having this conversation at all. 9 TDs in 2 games, 21/2 ratio for the season. And simply dropping dimes.
2) Offensive line consistency.
3) 13 personnel and success with it.
4) Davante on the goal line. Also 5 TDs in 2 games.
5) Ferguson's potential becoming more evident.
6) Forbes ... yes the INT with QB baiting, but the one on one takedown of Taysom Hill.
The Good7) Fiske being healthy, D line play overall.
8) Higbee really going out in style. Still got some juice left in the tank.
9) Related to 8, the idea of having Ferguson and Allen for the foreseeable future is really comforting.
10) Falcons reeling. Right now it's pick 12, but they usually pick 8th. That's their history. But if we're staying with Stafford, we can take Carnell Tate or Tyson or Brazell at 12. I'd likely go with Tate just based on his hand strength and tenacity and willingness to block.
11) So ... RBs breaking tendencies ... the book on our guys was that they go up their gaps (in my head, don't know if its the actual book) but now they're willing to bounce outside and use strength and stiff arms to get chunk plays.
12) Landman's punch out. Seriously.
13) Killing time of possession.
14) Speights decleating Devin Neal.
The Bad15) Giving a rookie his first TD.
16) Allowing them to drive and score before the end of the first half.
17) Might be nitpicking, but you gotta get Mumpfield and Whit touches if you can.
The Ugly18) Penalty on that sack I disagree with. I thought McVay was being diplomatic when he said "Gotta lower the target." ... the target was lowered, the QB just dropped 10 inches. If it's about the target being lowered and the QB drops into the new zone, it shouldn't be on the defender who has already chosen his target.
19) Ummm ... what are we going to do about the kicking game?
College20) So I'm still looking at QBs, but in the way that Green Bay does. May draft him in the first and he may not play until 2030. If you like a guy and want to build with him already in the fold, they year you have two firsts is the best year. That said, I have 4 teams possibly needing QB ahead of Atlanta's pick right now.
21) So, Disney and Google are fighting over youtube TV and so Ive lost ABC and the ESPNs for college watching, even recorded games. Note, we also subscribe to Disney, and it's not available there either unless I get "premium" ... this kinda stuff has got to be dealt with by the NCAA. Glad we don't have a Monday night game til later in the year.
22) QB 2027 are all going to be the highest picks. There are 3 #1 overall contenders in my opinion. I don't think we are in reach of that unless we have crazy injuries or we trade for another first somehow to stack.
23) I don't think anyone is beating Ohio State. Sayin is accurate as heck, and Jeremiah Smith reminds me of Megatron.
24) The Edge class needs to be taken advantage of. I don't care that we're 4 deep. I promised a list ...
So ... Reese, Bain, Faulk, Dennis-Sutton, Zion Young, Cassius Howell, David Bailey, R Mason Thomas, Barham, Josh Josephs, Derek Moore, Traore, Vincent Anthony. Im sure Im missing a few.
25) Question, given the cost of the position, CB in round1? We may not "need" it ... but it seems smart if we're not taking an OT.
