Let me see if I canput this plainly, so it can be understood:
EVERY kicker we've had in since McVay tried to make a holder out of a non-holder in Evans has underperformed.
Let's all chew on that, and let it sink in.
I'm not blaming Evans for being put into a spot he shouldn't be in.
But on camera last night - you could see a well-kicked ball slice right and miss from well over 40 yards out.
IT WOULD HAVE SCORED HAD IT CONTINUED IN A STRAIGHT FLIGHT PATH.
You could also see on camera that
the laces were on the kicker's right, causing the ball to do what it did.
It is the holder's job to spin the ball, laces forward, while spotting.
THAT MISS IS NOT ON THE KICKER.

NEITHER IS THE BLOCKED XP

When a farmer loses his corn crop to weevils, he doesn't go out and shoot a batch of crows because they're obvious. Or if he does, he'll lose the next crop as well.
The unseen problem is often the real problerm. The questions are, at that point, is the problem important enough to solve, at what cost, and is leadership willing to do what it takes to solve the problem?
To apply the analogy: McVay had three kickers in who have underperformed out of the same holder's holds. Problem: the current kicker continues to underperform in certain situations.
Start there.
