Cousins is under contract for '26 and '27.
Under the terms of that deal the Rams would have to pay him $90M for those 2 seasons if they traded for him.
The Falcons have Penix so they could easily be willing to move Cousins. What would it take to pry Cousins loose? Maybe not much considering the Falcons would get $22.5M in cap relief in 2026 if they trade Cousins and also have $90M to spend elsewhere.
The downside: Cousins will be 38 in 2026.
Note that Garoppolo will be 35 in 2026. To me, signing JG for the '26 & '27 season makes more sense. JG won't cost $90M for 2 seasons, the Rams wouldn't have to give up any draft capital to sign him, and it's quite possible the JG is the better QB.
Maybe the Falcons would eat some of that contract? If they don't eat "some" of it, they have to pay ALL of it, correct?
As for being 38, I still think he is in pretty good shape. At least he doesn't have a "glass" back! lol
I would be ok with Jimmy G taking over until McVay could find someone else. I have a feeling this won't be the last we discuss this! lol
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
