QB (other than trading up for talent or FA, no real home grown talent)
Jared Goff was home grown. We then traded for Stafford. I'm not sure that the failure to obtain another starter-quality QB with selections outside the top 100 picks is all that noteworthy.
RB. Been a bit iffy since Gurley. Even Kyren has his issues.
Disagree on this one. Cam Akers had a lot of promise before his injury. Kyren is a great find in Round 5. I also still have a lot of faith in Blake Corum.
TE. Been a revolving door at TE between drafting Higbee and Ferguson.
I suppose... but given how good our WRs have been, we've never been a team that features the TE a primary receiver.
OT. Our starting LOT is a former udfa. That speaks volumes.
Doesn't that speak well of our scouting?
ILB. This position has been an orphan until this offseason
Again, not a featured role in our defense. That said, we got some milage out of Cory Littleton and Ernest Jones, both home grown players who help get us to Super Bowls..
CB. ‘Pretty good’ now thanks to some FA signings. Home grown talent has been underwhelming.
I keep expecting us to use a premium draft pick on CB. Instead, we seem to be building from the DL back.
So... I don't see a marked "problem" here. You only have so many opportunities to develop players. We've done a great job overall, but there are bound to be stronger and weaker spots.
