Re: Packers releasing Jaire Alexander - Ramsey alternative?

How do you say that you're happy with your CB room without saying you're happy with your CB room? You go the entire offseason without adding a single CB to that room.

You don't sign a FA. You don't draft one. You don't even add a UDFA after the draft is over.

I don't have enough info personally to say that the Rams are set at CB with who they have. But IMO the Rams would have done something if they had any concerns at all about the position.

All that said, adding a 2-time All Pro to any CB room would be a plus.

And the fact that Alexander is a FA as a result of being released rather than playing out his contract means that he wouldn't factor into the comp pick formula. As it stands the Rams are in line for a 6th round comp pick for Demarcus Robinson: signing Alexander wouldn't affect that.

Alexander was in the middle of a 4-year, $84M deal so his per-year cost was right there with Ramsey. But he's missed 34 of the last 68 games so that factors in somehow, probably meaning less than the $21M a year he was getting, and probably loaded with incentives so his new team doesn't get hurt financially if (when?) Alexander gets hurt on the field.

  I’m not crazy about signing oft-injured players…
