And I think the Rams feel that way as well. They made what I see as modest upgrades except for Adams. And even there we're talking about a player who is 32.
We will see how they do. Did they do enough in the secondary? Enough depth at tackle? Will they be able to withstand the storm if the injury bug hits? Could they have done more? They seem pretty content with just a few additions and no 1st round draft pick to add to the mix in their SB window. So definitely not mortgaging the future and kind of calm.
I think the Rams were one of the best teams in the NFL last season and I thought that at the beginning of the season, not just at the end. I think the Rams are the best team in the NFL now and I'm not sure it's close. The defense maturing is what tips the scales for me. I think they have a chance to be special... but the offense too. With the addition of Adams, they have a chance to be special. And at the end of last season, the Rams offense was very good. Another year of continuity in the OL, some young players getting more experience and we'll see if Ferguson does anything.
So I got the warm fuzzies for sure. If things go well and the Rams have football luck on their side, then I think its going to be a great season... but even if everything doesn't go right 100% of the time, I think they're still contenders. And if they get in the playoffs... just like last season, no one will want to play them.
