It is pure speculation about which player the Rams wanted to trade-up for. And Jourdan couldn't say for sure who it was. Further, she says that every year there is plan to trade up for a player who probably is not attainable, but they'll give it shot. I mean, who the heck ever thought they'd trade out of the 1st round, get a 2nd round pick PLUS a 1st year? Good grief. Sometimes you just have to try for improbable but count on the more likely to happen.
Everyone assumes it was Warren or the other TE, and then when McVay says Ferguson was the TE he wanted, some say McVay isn't telling the truth.
They might have wanted to trade up for a WR, or Jeanty or who knows? The Rams are always full of surprises because they don't have the stock NFL view of what they want in the way of players.
If you just watch the video of when the Rams took Ferguson there was joy like when Verse dropped into their laps. Was that fake, for the cameras? I think you'd have to say it was if you don't believe him.
I do think Ferguson was McVay's target at TE, even if defies what fans and media think the top guys were. The only thing that remains is to find out if Ferguson achieves what McVay thinks he is and can be.
