Kupp has $7,500,000 guaranteed salary this year, They can cut him before March 15 to avoid paying that roster bonus, but they would still have to pay that.
That would bump the dead money cap hit to $24.76M.
And if the Rams keep him for the season, his cap hit would be $29.78M.
Personally, I don't see the Rams cutting Kupp to save $5M against the cap, thinking that Stafford might be an established QB that needs a 8-10 yard sure-handed chain mover once in a while.
Honestly, I don't see the finaincial value in this move either. He may not be what he was, but i don't think he's done either. I'm wondering if this is more a youth movement than a cap relief. But the teams has made moves like this before (Leonard Floyd) so who knows what they are planning.
