Or at least you and I saw it on tape. didn't we Albany?
When Karty gets a good hold, he makes the kick.
You saw two (and so did I) where the laces weren't straight. I think we both saw one where the hold didn't seem to go down on spot, his plant foot slipped (turf condition or hold) and he missed the kick. I saw a couple where the ball angles we off, and he missed the kicks.
I don't recall which of those kicks were FG's or XP's - but I do recall looking at the number and posting that the percentage of mises were about the same before the last couple of games, regardless of range, XP or FG. The numbers, when combined with what we could see of the holds, indicated that the problem wasn't Karty.
Evans' improved holds toward the end of the season parallels Karty's "sudden improvement," or "getting over the rookie jitters," or whatever wrong reason is unfairly applied to his misses. At least now an increasing number are seeing what the coaches already knew and McVay revealed publicly: There were things behind the scenes that Karty had to deal with and they never lost confidence in him. As fans we should take our cue from that: neither should we.
