43, I see things similarly but from a different angle. At this point I see that there are some weak roots bearing some weak fruit. But before I go on I'd like to say that if you look at the general tenor of our board, it's like a yo-yo. When we win, many say how good/great our team and management staff is, when we lose then things are dismal. Up and down, up and down. As you said, you thought things were solid, and now see that they're not. What happens if we beat the NO? Are we solid again? Sounds inconsistent.
I disagree with you that our team is "mediocre." I'd say we are average, as I define mediocre as below average. Our record says we are an average team.
I still think that while Snead is good, better than average perhaps, he is not great, and that we need a better GM. Our problems at LB and ST are primarily management problems, not player problems. We had good people in those positions previously and our FO mishandled them. Changing kickers and punters year after year, and going to war with R & R is a very bad look. I know you've argued that that is more of a result of McVay's hand than Snead's, and if that is actually true, then again, how much value is Snead bringing to the table?
Like most humans, McVay plays to his strengths and finds it difficult to change, but I think he has improved overall, and I continue to support him 100%. I'm not saying he's perfect, as I agree that his use of Corum has been bad, the TE situation, etc., but I see a lot of good in him.
Other posters have argued that OLine injuries have hurt our team's overall performance for some time. I think there is a lot of truth in this argument, one that I had overlooked previously.
Yeah, it's time to move on from Kupp. I hate to say it but he's not pulling his 30M weight.
We're rebuilding and some good moves have been made, and some bad mistakes have been made. Like you, I'm hoping that the lights turn on for our FO.
I think making the playoffs should be a team goal given the context of our division's weakness. If we make the playoffs, even as a WC, it will generate strength and confidence for the entire org.
