Re: I think the biggest problem at that time......

was the coaching staff. It looked to me that they would zero in on high quality college players. Players who excelled at that athletic platform. They would then just use them as they were used in college. They couldn't coach them up from the college level to the pro level. What the guy could do in college is what he did in the pros, no evolution to the next level ever took place.

As MaMa stated when he did do things penalties took them back...time and time again. IMO most players in this time frame of RAMDOM were behind the eight ball due to very poor coaching.

Personally speaking I don't think anyone they could have picked would have shined. They would have had a better chance of floundering then excelling.

And truthfully, that was another big problem with Tavon- nothing was ever his fault. At first it was because we weren't "building the offense around him". Then it was because he was "unlucky", then it became about Sam Bradford. Finally, we got to that old "He'll be a pro-bowler one he goes to a real team".
Sorry, it just brings me back to a time where there was so much back and forth on this guy, and now he's retiring from the league a forgotten man. Right about where a few of us thought he'd be.
