Said I would, did.
Safety 5'10 190 4.5 forty but indications are that he's faster, words keep popping up like raw, instinctive, passion for football, thumper, needs development. One report gives him 25% chance to make 53, 50% to make practice squad. Another says he'll stick.
"Plenty of talent on the Wolfpack defense, but #NCState SAF Tanner Ingle stands out. Aggressive, downhill player who is instinctual, thumper from secondary who plays with his hair on fire. Ball production, magnet to the ball, makes constant impact."
Another: "Underrated safety with terrific instincts. Quickly reads the action and tracks the pass in the air. Gets vertical and competes to defend throws."
Two plays show him charging up to line and laying out running back. This is college, I know, but Ingle gets my attention when he's in the gap just as the runner clears it, meets the runner head-on with a solid tackle that wraps him chest-high, drives through, and dumps him on his back. Others show him pursuing with plenty of heat, making plays, dumping receivers with plenty of authority.
I'm interested to see what he does when the pads go on and he's playing real football with the big boys. I think he'll do fine. His development will depend on how much he lacks, how much he wants it, and how much Pleasant can teach him in a short time.
Solid tackler, can't tell what he lacks but he brings the intangibles I want to see in a safety. We need an enforcer back there and in due time Ingle could be that guy.
