I know that guys cut after June 1 affect the cap differently than guys cut before June 1. But if it was the Rams' intention to get that benefit with Allen they could have cut him months ago and merely designated him a June 1 cut.
IOW, cutting Allen in February and calling it a post June 1 cut yields the exact same cap benefit as actually cutting him after June 1.
And the way the Rams operate, if they knew they were going to cut Allen they would have done it a long time ago just to give him the best chance to catch on with another team.
As I see it Allen isn't going anywhere just because the calendar flips over to June. (No one else is getting cut tomorrow, either.)
