Just understanding how to call a play and then know what is supposed to happen once you call it seems really complicated. These guys need to process it instantly while surveilling the defense to seek if the play is and if it is right where to go with the ball. In a complicated offense with lots of options off of each play this must be very difficult especially for a rookie QB.

Then once you have this complicated call and have a pre snap look at the defense you are supposed to real time see what the defense is actually doing and then instantly know where to go with the ball. Processing all of that in just a second or two seems to be ridiculously impossible and must take a very unique individual to master this successfully. What a huge jump from College to the Pro's where everything is more complicated and moves at a much greater speed. No wonder so many QB with great talent fizzle out in the Pro's and never make it.

QB accuracy and arm strength you can scout pretty well. Even leadership you can scout. They have tests that look at your ability to understand things and tests to look at the speed of recognizing and processing what you see which offer some help with latter being a more recent development.

I will be interested to see in the preseason games how well Bennet does but even if he does well it will be a false indicator as defenses will be mostly plain vanilla so it will be easier to recognize and process what the defense is doing.

Anyway just thrilled to have a reason to watch preseason games this year. We will have a bunch of rotation players suiting up and some potential starters too. Nice change from looking at the guys who are fighting for the bottom of the roster and the practice squad.

It's nuts, but Lense to Deuce right RB is out wide, then shifts back to backfield from the left
