There sure was a lot of stuff that contributed to the disaster of last season.
Injuries, Superbowl hangover, QB elbow then Injury, Coaching decisions, McVay problems, Roster Talent
I think there were a bunch of things that happened last season that were just out of control of the organization such as huge amount of injuries, especially the decimation of the offensive line, and the short off season that really hurt the team.
But there were things that they could control that when you look back were warts all over the place. The coaching staff wasn't up to snuff, especially RB coach and OC. But the coaching staff as a whole wasn't performing well and McVay did a house cleaning as a result.
Depth was an issue everywhere which hurt us with player development. Roster configuration was an issue as we had lots talent at MILB but were thin on the edge. We had talent that we didn't play until things were so bad we didn't have a choice. Guys like Hoecht and Tutu didn't play even when we had a screaming need for their talents. Our offense just sucked. Stafford seem to be focused on Kupp exclusively, we lacked creativity, we were predictable, we had no running game etc. Yes injuries played a part but we did not adjust very well either.
On Defense we were generally okay but we lacked a pass rush and we had inexperienced CB's that cost us and yes a fair share of injuries too.
Also the Salary Cap probably caught up with us a bit too. The lack of draft picks caught up with us too. Those were things that were in our control and while those decision led to a Super Bowl they also contributed to a poor showing in 2022.
Some of the things like the coaching we have tried to fix. We have more draft picks but our Cap situation is even worse and we have lots of talent that must be replace. Roster wise I expect we will be worse off than last season though i think we will have a better record.
So I think the team wasn't as bad as it seemed but the team sure had a l
