The cause of the outlier should be considered and perhaps investigated.
maybe it has been investigated and the largest issue was unprecedented, not
ordinary, not run-of-the-mill, not "excuse making" but the worst outbreak
of injuries to an offensive line since they have been keeping records.
Maybe that does not explain 100% of it, but actual facts should not
be cast out or dismissed,
They should be considered as the simple, obvious reason for the
offensive struggles, coupled with injuries to the QB and the star
WR and then late in the season the star DT.
At some point, it has to be realized the outlier was an injury outbreak
that has not been seen in the last 55-60 years.
That is your outlier.
So someone, somewhere, sometime, actually went through every team and every starting lineup since 1962 to determine that our injuries this past year were unprecedented, never seen before? I never knew that those records existed that far back. Pro Football Outsiders AGL only goes back to 2006, I believe?
Any idea how to access or find those dating back that far?
