Been working through the TEs due to it feeling like it's time for us to take one. I'm convinced we'll see one added this year which is very exciting. Some notes:
Watched some Musgrave and noticed first defender puts him down 99% of the time. In the pass game he's very reminiscent of Higbee, though with better hands, as Higs has improved there since his rookie season. Where the ball gets to him, well, that's your gainer, he's a catch 'n flop type. Hoping if we go TE that we don't draft him, I suspect he'll be overdrafted due to that body size but he's got bad body control/agility and I don't think that will improve with time and coaching.
LaPorta who is also listed in a lot of mocks I've seen well below Musgrave I think is a much better weapon in the pass game because he has good vision with the ball in his hands and can win extra yards. He's more that Kittle type, where he can make more of things underneath because he's got wiggle, which will endear him to McVay I think. I would very much like to see us get him.
Washington is ridiculous. He's got insane talent. The guy looks like a first round talent to me honestly.
Kraft is like LaPorta in that you can scheme him in underneath and he'll give your QB a safe harbor while also winning you extra yards. The guy is gonna get plus yards when that ball's in his hands. Thick bodied and you don't think he can move but he has natural run instincts. I like him as a midrounds meat 'n taters TE selection.
Agree with you guys on Whyle. Nice looking athlete with good size and he's a willing blocker and was used with a lot of movement. Nice fit for sure.
Gotta say we've been in TE purgatory for a long, long time. Just the chance we might change that will have me tuned in to this draft for sure. I really want a TE.
