If I'm understanding the creator's argument, he's saying that, because offenses are deploying more 11-personnel formations, there's less of a need for the traditional elite shutdown CB (because he can only defend one good/great WR at a time.
But isn't Ramsey much more than a traditional elite shutdown CB? It's clear that the Rams think so, otherwise they wouldn't deploy him in the STAR position so much. And I don't believe that our Super Bowl victory could've highlighted this any better where Ramsey is able to go from defending Jamar Chase on the outside to Tee Higgins inside.
And this doesn't even take into account Ramsey's ability to tackle well, show in run-support, be a locker room leader, and FA recruiter.
I believe that he provides a defense a lot more flexibility than by just being a shutdown corner.
