But it is conceivable that McVay is hoping Morris gets that Colt job because he doesn’t want to have to fire him. There, I said it.
The Colt job for Morris would be a win-win-win for all parties.
Wouldn’t surprise me if McVay were having a few ‘what if’ and off the record conversations with select candidates behind the curtains. He’s gotta cover all the possibilities in order to protect Rams interests, doesn’t he?
I’m only half kidding here, tbh. Like I said, it is at least conceivable.
So hard for me to get a bead on McVay. On one hand, I'm behind your wishful thinking here. On the other, the time for niceties needs to be OVER. Yes, it would be embarrassing, and set Morris's career back, were he to be released. But if you truly believe the defense, and Morris role in it are holding you back, pull the trigger and don't just hope he gets another job.
And that worries me even more. I don't know how you look at last year and not want to improve. If his scheme is so personnel dependent, what makes you so sure we're going to have the guys you need to run it next season? What's the plan to get better?
