Is the use of the word "sorry" an apology?

Sorry but I don't think an adult acting like a spoiled child is an acceptable "sign of the times". Do I think others like yourself do ? . Unfortunately, far too many.
Usually when someone says "sorry", I assume they are apologizing for something.
