I'll never forget Fran Tarkenton hosting SNL right after the Vikings lost to the Raiders, their fourth SB loss and Tarkenton's third. In his monologue he said "ladies and gentlemen we will be right back in the Super Bowl next year (waits for the cheers from the audience to stop) where we'll lose again (laughter)."
It was for laughs, but I remember people suggesting Tarkenton would never one because he had conditioned himself to lose.
