McVay and Snead traded away first round picks and invested in a handful of superstars forcing the team to use a patchwork of young players on the offensive line and defensive backs other than a Havs and Ramsey.
This put them in a position where solid coaches are needed to develop the young players.
Ironically McVay is a young coach and could use the help himself from some proven experienced head coaches.
He probably benefited from Phillips when he was here.
I don't think McVay will achieve his potential without veteran coaches around him.
He doesn't respect help from others.
Like I have said before allowing the db's to play 10 yards off the line of scrimmage allows teams that play the Rams pick apart the defense with short plays like his grandfathers forty niner teams were successful doing.
