great stuff in here from former coaches that know exactly what coaching can do to you...
I think DV had same issues McVay is dealing with in the losing is much more low than the high of winning
McVay is the victim of his own success. 5-12 would have looked great next to Spags 1-15. DV talking about when they cheered a first down because they sucked too bad.
Its amazing the level of discontent by a few here who want this guy gone or @#$%& talk the man. He's the best and I mean the BEST thing that has ever happened to this team and DV is the only guy that is even close but his record pales next to what Coach McVay did in 6 years.
I don't want McVay gone. Not really. I don't even have a problem with him stepping away on a time-out, sabbatical, mental health break... whatever you want to call it.. The problem I have is in not understanding how his being away (and it sounds to me like that's exactly what he needs) can happen without it affecting everything else at Rams Park and not in a good way. I just don't see how.it can happen and then how would McVay be assimilated back into the fold once he was ready to come back. Has any NFL head coach ever done that before and if so ... who.. and how did that work for him, the team, the interim HC, etc? Can things ever be status quo at Rams Park again with McVay at the helm? I suppose it could but I'm just not seeing it. Just because I can't see it doesn't mean there's not a way for things to work out for all concerned. I just don't know how. And because I can't see it...it forces me to consider other alternatives.
Does any of that make sense?
