Thanks, Jack, for stopping by and jawing!

I was at that game in rainy Chicago that night, a senior in HS at the time, which turned out to be the last game Broadway Joe played in. It was great to have had a chance to see one of those great Ram teams of the '70's!

What was it like to have him as a teammate? What was the team response when Joe was pulled for Pat Haden? Did the defense even care? LOL! (You guys were so good it seemed the defense could just about win games at will all by yourselves!)

Again, thanks for all those years you put into making the Rams an NFL powerhouse!

WHAT FOLKS DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT GAME IS THAT PRIOR TO THAT GAME JOE HAD A ELBOW INJURY AND HE GOT IT SHOT WITH A NUMBING AGENT AND THE DOC NICKED HUS ULNAR NERVE. SO, JOE'S HAD COULDN'T GRIP THE BALL PROPERLY AND IT AFFECTED WITH THROWING. IT RESULTED IN HIS BEING BENCHED FOR PAT.

AS A TEAMMATE, JOE WAS TERRIFIC, HE BROUGHT A LOT OF ENERGY AND MEDIA ATTENTION TO THE TEAM. HE IS STILL A FRIEND TODAY. THE DEFENSE JUST WANTED AN OFFENSE THAT COULD SCORE 17 POINTS, WE FELT IT WAS OUR JOB TO HOLD TEAMS TO BELOW THAT. IF THE OFFENSE SCORES 13 IT WAS OUR JOB TO HOLD EM TO 12.
