So, wiffie and I got a wild hair (bucket list)

Primitive camping at the beach...

So
Camping on the beach
Staying up all night
Watching the sun come up
Sleeping in the tahoe
(with a 100lb wet german sheppard)

Has a totally different meaning when your 20
(as in fun)
Not so much when your 70

Next we want to canoe 3-5 days
sleeping on rocks

Well check that one off
Just rented a beach house for 4 days

Call me old fashioned but
I like electricity
Hot showers

That's one adventure I have yet to do....

An overnight canoe trip. And it's been eating at me for decades. I have been in a canoe... but an actual canoe trip? Never.

Had a friend that used to tell me about a canoe trip he went on a couple of times... in Canada. I forget exactly where. And it was a 'major' excursion. He said they'd fly back into a lake (wish I could remember where but it was eastern Canada somewhere).... then they'd canoe from lake to lake to lake to lake by connecting rivers. It was VERY long... taking them...... I think, 2 or 3 weeks?

In my mind I couldn't think of a better adventure. Still like to give something like that a go.... even it was just a couple nights or so. - JamesJM

LOL... I haven't lost that love for the primitive yet....

My recent camp out in Death Valley was bare boned. Loved every second of it. There is, however, one convenience that I can't do without - - - -

Every third day, at most, I have to bathe.... and when I do I want a hot shower. As much as I love the 'primitive' those below freezing baths in melted snow water on my Sierra Nevada backpacking trips I was NOT fond of. I NEVER got used to them. Thank God for natural hot springs.
