Grandson did ok but not his best game. They switched his position for this game which I thought was a bad idea... especially since he's a Freshman. He didn't give up any big plays but he was confused out there. In the 4th they moved him back to the position he had played all year and it was much better. Porterville was a damn good team. So we play Madera next week for the Sectional championship. About sweet pickles. For nearly my entire life I detested sweet pickles. Since taste can change as you age I tried sweet pickles every so often but I could never stand them... UNTIL - -

Only a year or 2 ago I found that I liked them... BUT ONLY on a Tuna sandwich. Go figure! So I put them on tuna now but even the thought of eating a sweet pickle by itself makes me nauseous.

I like all foods, literally, except sweet pickles and buttermilk. Tulare and Hanford got screwed by being moved up to the top division. They probably should have been the top two teams in D II. Coming home we took the Tulare route... MUCH better. I have been to Porterville only a handful of times in my life. No doubt it's the nearest 'big city' I've been to the least in the entire valley, to include Sacramento Valley. I did used to practice touch and go landings and takeoffs at their airport quite a bit. I can't believe how big Porterville has become. I think they're somewhat of a hub for many industries/company's?

Yes, Madera is next.... and once again they'll be VERY tough. But of course in the Semi's and Finals tough is to be expected.... especially the way they move higher division teams down into lower divisions these days.

On Pagmeters radio stream last night they had HIGH praise for Tulare Union... and mentioned that Tulare Union is returning MANY starters next year, being very young this year. They're expected to challenge for a sectional championship next year and the only question is - which Division? Going by memory, which is not at all trustworthy these days... I think they tried bananas at first and bananas had limited success. Pville is a good stretch from your part of the world. About 30 miles east of us. Used to be in our league and they were always among the best teams. When I played they had a 230 lb FB/MLB named Steve Brown who went on to Oregon St and was drafted by the Rams. He was a man among boys in high school. Bigger than almost all of our linemen. Bad knees kept from having much of a NFL career.

Did your cruise through my town on the way to Porterville or did you take a turnoff near Tipton? In one of the first games we played this year several players went down with leg cramps. Someone, no idea who, said Pickles, or pickle juice, before games would prevent cramps. So my daughter went to Walmart before the next game and cleaned them out of pickles. All the players partook AND... no cramps. So my daughter became the 'pickle lady'. Before every game.

Last night after the victory in OT several of the players came up to her and said, "It's the pickles". :laughing
